How to Apply

AIM is an application-based course with limited enrollment. Applications for AIM are submitted through the Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing and reviewed by the AIM faculty. The application window typically opens six weeks before course registration and remains open for approximately two weeks. In addition to basic background information, the application process will ask you to submit your resume, your transcript or grade history (including all completed courses and schedule of current courses), and an essay response related to your interest in and qualifications for the course.

Details about the application process and a link to the application form will be sent via email to all eligible students when the application window opens.  If you have any questions about AIM or the application process, please reach out to the AIM faculty.

Who Can Apply

In the Fall semester, the class is open to senior undergraduate finance majors. Spring semester enrollment typically includes a combination of graduate students and undergraduate finance majors. In all cases, enrollment is subject to the the completion of all prerequisites.

Evaluation of Applicants

The selection process for AIM is highly competitive. Because the course is student-driven and built around presentations and discussion, it is critical to have the right mix of highly-motivated, interested students who will take advantage of the opportunity provided by AIM. To accomplish this goal, the AIM faculty review applications in a holistic manner, looking for applicants who will contribute the most to the classroom experience, demonstrating strong intellectual skills, a willingness to work with others, and a passion for investing.

After applications are submitted, the AIM faculty independently review each candidate's file and assess their ability to perform well in the course. Faculty review previous courses taken, grades, internships, extracurricular activities, and personal essays. The AIM faculty also seek input from other Mendoza faculty who can provide insights into the applicant's ability to contribute to AIM. Once this information is compiled, the faculty come together to compare their reviews of each candidate's case and painstakingly choose the next AIM class. Unfortunately, limits on enrollment are such that many qualified students are left out. If timing permits, we encourage students who remain interested to re-apply in a subsequent semester.

If you are interested in participating in AIM during your time at ND, we strongly encourage you to get involved as early as possible with the NDIGI, ND Investment Club, ND Wall Street Club, SIBC, and other investing and finance-oriented extracurricular activities. In addition to being amazing learning experiences in their own right, these programs and clubs help differentiate AIM applications as a strong indication of passion for investing.

Notification Of Acceptance

All applicants will be notified of admission decisions approximately one week before course registration.
